About the role

With a vision for becoming the Queensland champion of specialist design and creative endeavours, our client operates a unique model that exists to develop, exhibit, sell and promote the best traditional and Indigenous design, arts and craft. We are seeking a passionate, and commercially driven Chief Executive to take the organisation to new heights.

Reporting to an enthusiastically engaged, high-profile and skilled board, the Chief Executive will drive the development of the strategic plan that will include industry and stakeholder engagement, exhibition programs, funding, digital and retail pillars. With an excellent foundation to build upon, the incoming Chief Executive will actively seek opportunities to secure existing and new funding streams and build a structured plan to secure private sector partnerships.

Leading a small team, the Chief Executive plays a pivotal role in fostering relationships with design and craft artisans, building pathways to promote the industry and showcase Queensland talent. Through a program of exhibitions, tours, education offerings, online and retail sales, and strong financial management, this role will engage with a wide range of stakeholders and publicly represent the industry to lift profile and awareness.

To be successful, you will combine innovative, strategic thinking with commercial aptitude and have a passion for, or experience in, the arts, design, craft or related sectors. You will understand public funding processes and will have deep, relevant networks through which to drive innovative alternative funding initiatives. Your digital marketing and e-commerce skills along with expertise in leading a retail presence will be essential. A confident public speaker, your adaptable style will ensure you connect equally with key public and private sector stakeholders, the wider community and the broad cross section of artisans represented.

This is a rare and unique opportunity to lead change, innovation and transformation for the benefit of an important sector of Queensland’s artistic culture. If you are an experienced leader with the core skills mentioned and a passion for the industry we encourage you to send your resume in word format only with an accompanying cover letter outlining your relevant achievements by Friday 27 May. Enquiries to Natasha Olsson-Seeto on 07 3305 5819 are encouraged to determine whether this is your next great career adventure.
