The Organisation

Hume Community Housing is a nationally accredited Tier 1 community housing provider and manages and or owns 1,800 social housing properties. Hume provides tenancy management, property management and support services directly and collaboratively with key stakeholders to facilitate sustainable housing solutions and enhanced positive social and community outcomes.

Hume develops properties both independently and in partnership with the private sector, developers and financial institutions. Supported by a skilled board with robust governance structures, Hume is investing in an ambitious growth strategy to deliver further quality housing and services to those in need.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, leading the finance and business service team and as an integral member of the executive team, the role is responsible for long term strategic and compliant financial planning and management, accounting and treasury practices. The role will provide strategic oversight and review, ensuring business planning, financial and management reporting and analysis, and cash flow and capital management controls are in place to meet the growing needs of the organisation.

Specifically you will;

• Provide leadership in the evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
• Report on financial compliance, solvency and sustainability
• Advise on the financial implications of business activities and investments
• Support the growth of assets through feasibility and financial modelling
• Manage critical relationships with key financial stakeholders
• Manage cashflow, forecasting impacts of current and future property developments
• Lead the risk and compliance management frameworks of the organisation including implementation and stress testing
• Deliver a broad customer focused business service remit through the organisation
• Fulfill company secretary duties

Skills Required

You have a track record in senior financial leadership roles, from sectors such as, but not limited to, property or financial services, with accounting qualifications including a CA or CPA. Company Secretary accreditation is also desirable. Overall you will have;

• Extensive experience in financial reporting, management and analysis with an ability to work with complex financing arrangements
• Strategic and analytical skills, with an ability to develop strategy and implement with detailed plans
• A track record of implementing best practice accounting and analysis
• Thorough knowledge of accounting standards and ATO requirements
• Experience leading and working with a whole of business view within an executive team, ideally in a values led environment
