About the organisation

Organisation Name : FARA - Friedreich Ataxia Research Association

About the role

The part-time Executive Director role (3 days per week – salary pro-rata), is integral to achieving the Friedreich Ataxia Research Association (FARA) strategy – to fund research programs and trials, to deliver a cure to Friedreich Ataxia (FA). FARA is the only non-for-profit association within Australia and has successfully been supporting research and medicine development for over 10 years.

Friedreich Ataxia is a degenerative neurological disease which primarily impacts children. It leads to degeneration of all bodily functions and eventually an early loss of life. Friedreich Ataxia is a rare disease that does not have a treatment or a cure, and needs one as soon as possible.

Although FA is rare, this is an exciting and dynamic time regarding research, medicine development and trials; however, developing a treatment requires funding, which is where you will use your skills to ensure we improve funding.

This is a great opportunity to make your mark, from design to delivery. This exciting role will include:

Develop, lead and deliver a fundraising/business strategy to increase funding (including corporate and grass-roots) and awareness.

Design bespoke and engaging presentations to potential donors.

Identify and approach corporate organisations and present to people at all levels including CEOs.

Review and implement best practice marketing programs.

Support and promote grass-roots funding.

Manage the business administration to ensure best practice.

Design and deliver a communications and engagement strategy, including social media.

Recruit and manage a high performing support team, to ensure your strategy is delivered.

Manage business administration including compliance, licenses, registrations, banking and reporting.

Present deliverables against your KPI’s, on a quarterly basis to the FARA Board.

Liase closely with patients, donors, board members, researchers within both Australasia, and on an ad-hoc basis with the U.S.A.

You will be vibrant, engaging and confident with a broad range of people. You will be a self starter, and able to work independently, or as part of a team. You must be passionate about non-for-profit organisations, and how they can make a difference, especially in supporting treatments to debilitating diseases. In regards to this, an understanding of FA is not essential, as we have leading edge professionals and board members, who will share their knowledge, to ensure you have a solid understanding of FA.

As a natural high performer, you will deliver your strategy, and be integral to saving the lives of people within Australasia, and potentially the world.

This is your time to make a difference! To find out more about FARA, please visit FARA.org.au.
