Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is a not-for-profit community organisation in the municipality of Whittlesea in Melbourne’s outer north. With a turnover of $2.5m, staff of 30 full-time, 16 casual and over 300 local volunteers, WCC offers services and programs to address disadvantage in the community and to promote community participation and involvement.
An exciting, challenging and motivating opportunity has arisen for an empathetic, dedicated, committed and visionary community professional to fill the recently vacated role of CEO. The ideal candidate will have:
• Substantial experience in working with a diverse Board and in managing an organisation with a diverse portfolio of services, programs and projects
• Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
• Demonstrated understanding and application of the theories and frameworks that underpin the provision of services to disadvantaged communities
• Demonstrated understanding of culturally appropriate engagement and high levels of cross-culture competence
• Excellent financial management skills
• Highly developed advocacy, negotiation and written and oral communication skills
• Strong networking and relationship building skills with demonstrated capacity to communicate, negotiate and work with a diverse range of people and community groups and agencies.
Applicants should have a relevant tertiary qualification in community development, social work or related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior role or managing a multi-disciplinary community service organisation in the not-for-profit sector. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated. The initial Contract term will be 3 years with an option of a further term of 2 years.
