Community Engagement Officer
Location: Canberra, ACT

About Palliative Care Australia
Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is a small not-for-profit organisation and the national peak body for palliative care in Australia. We are looking for a person who is passionate about community engagement and enjoys working in a team to undertake the role of Community Engagement Officer.
About the Opportunity
PCA currently has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Community Engagement Officer to join their team in Canberra.
Working with the Policy Team and reporting to the National Policy Manager, you will be responsible for a broad range of community engagement activities, communications and events support, and policy and research support.
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
• Planning, implementing and evaluating community activities and events to increase the understanding of palliative care and end-of-life care
• Conducting community consultation to better understand concerns in relation to life-limiting illnesses, palliative care and end-of-life care and inform projects and submissions
• Developing a wide range of resources to support consumers
• Developing statements to communicate PCA’s position on various issues/areas in palliative care and end-of-life care.
Selection Criteria
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement and/or community development, including experience in developing resources to support consumers
• Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability in project management, including monitoring progress, managing priorities, identifying and addressing concerns, and project evaluation
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience in undertaking research, synthesising information and developing reports for stakeholders
• Demonstrated achievement of results with limited supervision.
An understanding of the palliative care sector in Australia will be highly regarded.
