About the role

This role will lead and manage the Volunteer Engagement team in the delivery of RSPCA (Victoria)’s volunteer program through promoting a positive culture of volunteering and implementing effective and innovative volunteer engagement systems, initiatives, procedures and policies..

This is a full-time position with some out of hours work required from time to time.

Role duties & responsibilities
• Lead and promote an organisational culture that values volunteers and recognises the reciprocal benefits of volunteering.
• Develop and implement the Volunteer Engagement teams’ business plan and budget and identify areas of improvement and change in line with the organisations strategic directions.
• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of volunteer engagement policies and processes aligned with the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement that facilitate an effective state-wide volunteer program.
• Partner with managers and supervisors to develop volunteer programs that expand and enhance team effectiveness and capability.
• Develop a Volunteer Engagement Strategy to ensure RSPCA Victoria is responsive to the changing external environment of volunteering and – volunteers feel valued and recognised.

Skills & experience required
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire others to achieve goal
• Experience managing a large volunteer network with the ability to develop and implement effective volunteer engagement policies and processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to influence and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent problem solving skills with a focus on achieving results.
• An eye for identifying and implementing process improvements.

Qualifications & licenses
• Victorian driver license is essential as travel to other RSPCA locations will be required.
• Relevant tertiary qualification will be highly regarded.
