About the role

Oxfam Trailwalker Perth 16 – 18 September Event Weekend Volunteers
Want to volunteer at one of the world’s leading team endurance events?
Oxfam Trailwalker is Australia’s original 100km team endurance event, and a global phenomenon with 14 events in 10 countries and growing.

Oxfam Trailwalker Perth aims to raise $1.2 million dollars to help people living in poverty. To make the event possible, we need your support! We are looking for volunteers to work over the weekend of 16-18 September as our helpers, marshals and cheerleaders! We can’t do it without you! Register now.

Oxfam Trailwalker Perth will see hundreds of teams of four walk (or run) a 100km trail for 50kms trail, through the beautiful Perth hills, from Darlington to Forrestfield.  Walkers test their minds and bodies as they help people in poverty by raising funds for our vital work.

Oxfam Trailwalker is the perfect event to volunteer as an individual, or as a group. Whether you come solo and enjoy the chance to meet like minded people at the event, or volunteer with friends, family or as a corporate group, we have plenty of roles and shifts to suit your preferences.

For more information, please call our Events Volunteers Co-ordinator on 03 9289 9415 or email twvolsperth@oxfam.org.au

We hope to see you on the trail!

Oxfam Trailwalker is a huge logistical exercise, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our volunteers. We need around 700 volunteers to act as our helpers, marshals and cheerleaders!

KEY TASKS:
Some of the options available are:
• Working at a Checkpoint – providing encouragement, nourishment and support for our walkers and their support crews. Our parking co-ordinators ensure the smooth flow of traffic, and Green Team members who make sure that our checkpoints are clean and green!
• Working on the Trail Sweep Team volunteers following after the final team as they walk through each section to clear the trail. Trail Marshals are there to cheer on and encourage our walkers at the same time as ensuring they cross roads safely and don’t veer off the path!
• Transport and Logistics – these volunteers might find themselves driving minibuses, or supporting the Oxfam Trailwalker logistics team with supplies and deliveries.
• Skilled volunteering opportunities for professionals and students in podiatry, physiotherapy and massage therapy who provide their services to weary walkers at Checkpoints along the trail.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
Podiatry, Physiotherapy or MYO/Massage students should be in their 3rd or 4th year of studies.
IT Support volunteers should have a tertiary IT qualification.
Volunteers for transport and logistics roles must be aged 25 years and over, and have a full open drivers license valid in Australia.
All other volunteers do not require any special skills – just a positive attitude and a desire to have some fun and cheer on our walkers on the trail!
Volunteers must be at least 18, however 16 and 17 year olds can volunteer with adult supervision in certain roles.
Please be aware that not all volunteering locations can be accessed by public transport. You will need to organise your own transport to/from your shift.
