Our Services

Disability Employment Services

Achieve Employment supports people with a disability, injury or health condition to find and keep paid employment as well broaden their educational experiences and qualifications. The program is at no cost to the person or the employer.

We offer one-to-one support to assess and match the person to a job based on their individual needs and abilities.

Transition to Work / After School Choices

Transition to Work is a two year program to prepare school leavers for the workplace.

We assist people with:

  • developing industry related skills through work experience placements
  • enrolling in training courses
  • travel training
  • personal development
  • learning about work rights and responsibility
  • enhancing self-esteem and independency
  • participating in worksite visits
  • providing in-house training
  • development of an individual career plan revised every six months with the participant

Enclaves

Enclaves are small workgroups of people with disability who provide employment in a host business environment.

Each workgroup receives on-the-job training and supervision to perform a full service job or series of tasks as identified by the host business or employer.

Accommodation

Achieve Australia Community Living enable people with disability to live and participate in the community with varying degrees of independence. People are supported to learn and maintain life skills, develop relationships, make choices about their lives and participate in community activities.

We offer a range of accommodation options including drop-in support based on individual needs, co-residency arrangements with non-disabled housemates and around-the-clock assistance in shared community households.

Specialist Support

Many people have complex medical and social needs, which require professional individualised assistance.

Our Specialist Support team works in liaison with our other services to develop plans to suit specialist issues emerging for an individual. This may include assessment of the person and the environmental factors affecting them.

Day Programs

We offer a great range of living, learning and achieving programs through our Day Programs to support people to build meaningful life-long skills and connections to the community.

Participants can engage in activities such as sports, recreational activities, visual and performing arts, music, literacy and numeracy development, as well as other education and training courses. The programs are facilitated by our staff and encourage a life of learning and achieving. These activities generally operate during weekdays at our own facility or at an off-site location.

Projects in Progress

Respite

Achieve Australia plans to introduce a self-funded flexible Respite. The service will provide families of people with disability some temporary relief and flexibility through the type of service and programs available to them and the people they care for.

Equally, our Respite Service will give the person with disability the opportunity to participate in the benefits of a program of life experiences, activities and social engagement with their peers.

Sustainable, livable homes

We also aim to raise money to build sustainable, livable homes for people with a disability. Due to the nature of these homes (eg. installation of ramps, railings, etc.), they come at a higher cost than other homes.

Work with us

Volunteer with us

Volunteering

Volunteers play an important role in the work of Achieve Australia.

Each year, volunteers make a significant contribution organising annual fundraising activities, running the Vintage and Value Enterprises and assisting people with disability to engage with the community through various activities.

Vintage & Value Volunteers

Do you have a passion and interest for sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, tapestry, wool, quilting, craft, patchwork, dressmaking, tatting, spinning, weaving, beading, mosaics, books?

If so, we would love to hear from you! We are seeking volunteers for the Fabric Cave, Needlecraft Emporium and Second Hand Books. Availabilities are flexible.

Join a fun and interesting group of volunteers from different walks of life who are passionate about their stuff!

Buddy Volunteers

Do you enjoy walking? Swimming? What about bowling? Fancy a spot of fishing? Or the occasional lunch out?

We are looking for volunteers to be a ‘buddy’ for people with disability living across metropolitan Sydney. You would be spending time with them doing activities that they are interested in.The activity could range from a couple of hours to a whole day. This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in working with people with disability, to provide companionship and add value to their lives.

Day Program Volunteers

Do you have a passion, interest or skill in a particular area? Would you like to share it with people? You may have an interest in art, craft, cooking, sewing, knitting, technology, photography, sport, mathematics, dance, etc. that would be of benefit to the participants in our day program. They enjoy taking classes at the Day Program and it would be great to expand the opportunities available to them. Or perhaps you have a skill in massage, reflexology, acupuncture, etc. and would like to volunteer your services to the people we support? If so, let us know!

Corporate Volunteers

Corporate volunteering is not only beneficial for the clients of Achieve Australia, it is also great for staff morale and can promote creativity, job satisfaction and well-being for employees.

We have had various successful company volunteer days in the past, so if you are an employer considering a volunteering opportunity for your staff, please contact us on 9034 1600 or via our volunteer interest form for more information.
