Our Mission / Objective

Our mission is to provide a post-crisis peer-support network to survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse at whatever point in their lifetime they are dealing with this trauma.

Our Services

Adamas Nexus lifetime structured ‘post-crisis’ self-help support group.  The group meetings are self-facilitated where attendees who have been the recipients of any form of violence, abuse or intimidation, come together to help each other through shared stories, successful strategies, validation and community.

We currently have online groups which cover all of Australia and face-to-face meetings in the Australian Capital Territory. We plan to setup up groups to cater for culturally specific, me, LGBTIQ+ and disabled persons.

Our Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries are any women between the ages of 18-80 who have survived domestic violence and/or sexual abuse across Australia.  The statistics shown below provide some detail.

  • 1 in 3 women has experienced physical violence since the age of 15
  • 1 in 5 women has experienced sexual violence since the age of 15
  • 1 in 6 women and 1 in 16 men have experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former partner
  • On average, 1 woman/week is murdered by her current or former partner
  • Based on 2015 analysis, violence against women in Australia is costing Australia $21.7 billion each year

If we reach 1% of these women, this would mean thousands are being supported which in turn supports the Australian community and economy.

Projects in Progress

  • Work is progressing on the build and sale of a ‘Workbook’ (both online and hard copy) that will provide a source of income into Adamas Nexus.
  • The Adamas Nexus Corporate Sponsorship package will be rolled out in May 2021. This package is designed to assist workplaces to understand and educate themselves in this complex social problem of domestic violence and sexual abuse.  This will assist them to provide  active support to their employees at all stages of crisis which will in turn have a positive impact on the organisation’s bottom line.

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

We know there are many generous Australians who leave bequests in their Wills to charitable organsisations.  We would be grateful recipients of a bequest.

General Donations

Adamas Nexus is currently in the process of applying for Charity and Deductible Gift Recipient status, which will allow donations to be tax deductible.  We are always pleased to receive any donations of any size to help fund the ongoing growth of our groups.

Other support

We have been fortunate in the past to receive services in-kind such as legal assistance, social media, marketing, website design, printing.  We would be very grateful for a business mentor and pro-bono accountancy services.

Work with us

We have big plans.

We want any survivor to be able to attend an Adamas Nexus meeting wherever they are in Australia.  For many this may mean online only.  However, we want there to be a network across Australia of Adamas Nexus face-to-face meetings.  If someone is travelling for work or to visit family and needs the support we provide, we want them to be able to look up their nearest face-to-face meeting in the area and be able to attend.  It is similar to the way many of the 12-step programs work (ie Alcoholics Anonymous) – wherever you are there will be the support you need, when you need it.

We understand that we cannot run all of these meetings alone.  There are many, many other service organisations in these violence and abuse areas around Australia, who provide incredible support to their clients.  To date, we have not found anything like Adamas Nexus.  We want to setup partnerships with other service organisations and have them run Adamas Nexus where we are unable.  By doing this, we will spread a wide net of support, run by others who fully understand this marketplace, its requirements and predilections.

Volunteer with us

As we run this support group ourselves, we are always looking for volunteers with the right skill set/s to help us.  This may be in the area of marketing, website design/updates, graphic design, sponsorship package marketing and much much more.

If you would like to volunteer with us, please make contact as we would love to speak with you.
