Our Mission / Objective

Animal Aid exists to unite people and pets for life.

We are committed to acting in the best interests of each and every animal that comes through our doors.

Through the promotion of responsible pet ownership and the provision of the highest standard of care, Animal Aid is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion pets in our society.

We are passionate about advocating the adoption of companion pets, working to address the issues associated with animal overpopulation and abolishing sub-standard animal breeding practices.

We do not want to be big, we want to be great at everything we do.

Guiding Principals

Animal Aid believes that all pets deserve the safety and comfort of a loving home
Animal Aid is an open-door shelter that never refuses an animal in need
Our staff and volunteers treat all animals in our care with respect and dignity
Animal Aid works diligently to reunite lost pets with their owners
Animal Aid is committed to finding loving homes for all temperamentally sound and healthy animals. Animal Aid supports animals to become and adoptable regardless of space, time or financial pressures.

Our Services

Animal Aid does not receive government funding to operate.

We rely on the income generated from our services, fundraising activities and philanthropic support from individuals and the broader community.

Our services include:

Animal Adoption

Veterinary Clinic

Behaviour training

Dog and Cat Boarding

Grooming

Opportunity Shops

Proceeds from these services goes back into supporting the thousands of abandoned and homeless animals in our care and to preparing them for adoption.

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

Leaving a Gift in your Will for Animal Aid is a generous and lasting legacy that will help us care for the thousands of animals that come through our doors each year.

Studies show that at least 45% of Australians do not have a valid Will.

Making a Will gives you piece of mind and is a way of showing that you care for members of your family, loved friends and special causes like animal welfare that you value.

When making or changing a Will we recommend you consult a solicitor or state trustee to ensure that your wishes are expressed in a way that cannot be misinterpreted and are legally binding.

If you pass away without a Will, your Estate will be partially or entirely distributed in accordance with state legislation rather than your wishes.

Creating positive change

Animal Aid does not want to be big, we want to be great.
As an open door shelter we never turn away an animal or person in need regardless of space, time, or financial constraints.
We do not receive government funding to operate so we rely on the income generated from our services, fundraising initiatives, special donations and gifts to continue our work.

Leaving a Gift in your Will for Animal Aid will create positive change.

Your Gift, unless otherwise expressed, will not go towards our day to day operations but instead will enable us to continually improve our infrastructure well into the future. Our new 52 kennel facility is the first stage of infrastructure improvements which was only made possible through the thoughtfulness and generosity of individuals leaving a Gift for us in their Will.

Future improvements will include Animal Aid’s welfare kennels and catteries, boarding cattery, and veterinary clinic – so that all can continue to generate the income needed to sustain our operations. And most importantly provide the very best of environment and care to our animals.

Ensuring your pet is cared for

A pet is a much loved life long companion. When making your Will you can provide for your pet by leaving a Gift to Animal Aid to care for your pet/s after your passing.
Such a Gift will enable us to place your pet with a loving person or family and will provide for the pet’s ongoing well-being and veterinary needs.

When your pet passes, a plaque will be placed in one of our memorial gardens as lasting memory of your pet and as a testament of your Gift to Animal Aid.

Leaving your last legacy

Your special Gift to Animal Aid will make a positive difference to our future

Work with us

Volunteer with us

Each year over 500 volunteers gift their time and skills to assist Animal Aid by working in a variety of interesting roles across all areas of our organisation.

Volunteers commit to regular shifts and contribute a total of over 70,000 hours of their time each year. Without this generosity Animal Aid would not be able to achieve the positive outcomes for people and animals in need it does each and every day.

By volunteering with Animal Aid you will gain new skills and confidence and have the opportunity to put your time, energy, and skills into different programs. Above all you will have fun and make friends while you enjoy the sense of reward that comes from making a significant difference to the many animals in our care.

We always need volunteers to assist us with the many day to day tasks for:
• Kennels
• Cattery
• Grooming Salon
• Vet Clinic
• Administration
• Animal Rehabilitation
• Events & Fundraising
• Opportunity Retail Shops
• Grounds & Maintenance
• Drivers for pick and delivery runs

Foster Carers

Some of the animals that come to Animal Aid’s are not quite ready to go to a forever home. They need the short term love and care of a foster person or family.

Animals are placed with foster carers for a number of reasons prior to being available for adoption. These include that the animals:
• Are too young
• Have special needs
• Are in need of extra tender loving care
• Need time to recover from surgery
• Assist animals that need socialisation or training
This program assists us to manage peak times at our facilities such as the kitten season.

We need over 150 foster carers each year to provide temporary care for puppies, dogs, kittens, cats and pocket pets.
