Our Mission / Objective
Aspergers Victoria (AV) is the peak body of the Aspergers/ASD1 community. For almost 30 years, we have provided empowering support to Aspergers using a strengths-based approach. Our strategy focuses on delivering education, interest groups, advocacy and employment pathways for Aspergers /ASD-1 and their community, throughout their life. AV is funded through membership, philanthropy and Government. Our board, staff and volunteers have a unique level of knowledge and understanding, gained through lived experience. Further information can be found at www.aspergers.org.au.
Our Services
Aspergers Victoria has been empowering this community for almost three decades through peer groups, information, education events and employment coaching.
- Peer Groups: We run community meetings for children, young people and adults with Aspergers, as well as partners, parents and siblings, to connect with their peers.
- Information: Our volunteer-run information service provides specialised information about Aspergers via a popular
website, email information service, newsletters, social media and our information kit. This can cover diagnosis, schools advice, available professionals, key research findings and approaches. - Educational Events: We run information and discovery events and workshops relevant to those with Aspergers
- Employment Coaching: We provide tailored coaching for employers and managers about employing people living with Aspergers, educative talks for employers, as well as mentoring job-seekers with Aspergers about employment approaches.
We also provide advocacy to government about the needs of our Aspergers community such as submissions to inquiries and we are part of the Victorian Government’s Autism Advisory Group.
Our Beneficiaries
Our groups cater for all members of the Aspergers community; adults, young adults, teens, girls and boys with Aspergers, their parents and carers, siblings and partners.
Projects in Progress
We hold events such as workshops, professional guest speaker nights and support groups.
