Our Mission / Objective

ANHCA’s purposes are to:

*Support the activity and work of the Neighbourhood House & Centre Sector in Australia
*Enhance the quality, skills and knowledge of Neighbourhood Houses and Centres
*Contribute to national policy and issues of common interest to Neighbourhood Houses and Centres
*Promote and strengthen the national identity of Neighbourhood Houses and Centres.

Our Services

At a national level, ANHCA provides a vehicle for eligible Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres to access DGR status through the ANHCA Public Fund for DGR. This means that ANHCA members (Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres in Australia) do not need to have DGR status in their own right to accept tax deductible donations from individuals and businesses, or to apply for grants from philanthropic trusts and foundations. Please visit this website for further information on this service.

Information on the services offered by ANHCA members can be accessed via the websites of the peak body in each state.

Projects in Progress

Approximately 1,000 Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres are members of ANHCA. Members around Australia offer a number of programs and projects for their local communities including adult education classes such as English as a second  language, literacy, computer skills training, personal and vocational development courses; accredited training; individual and family support; leisure programs; health activities; self-help groups; and parent support, playgroups and childcare.
