Projects in Progress

Barwon Child, Youth & Family (BCYF) is an independent, not-for-profit community service organisation that provides services to clients via its client service platform:

  • Early Years (including Kindergarten Cluster Management)
  • Family & Community Services
  • Out of Home Care
  • Specialist Intervention Services
  • Youth Services
  • headspace Geelong

 

The organisation collaborates with communities and service partners to ensure a more responsive system of service delivery to meet a diverse range of needs of children, young people and families.  Particular emphasis is placed on prevention and early intervention programs, complemented by a range of justice, counselling and support services.

BCYF operate in the Barwon area of the West Division of Victorian towns and communities in six municipalities:

  • City of Greater Geelong
  • Surf Coast Shire
  • Golden Plains Shire
  • Colac Otway Shire
  • Borough of Queenscliff
  • Corangamite Shire

 

BCYF also delivers services in co-located and community-based environments across the catchment areas and via home outreach.

 

Programs 

Early Years: Bumps to Bubs, Early Childhood Intervention Services, HIPPY, Supported Playgroups, PLAY, Smalltalk and NDIS Early Intervention Services.

 

Family & Community Services: Communities that Care, Strengthening Family Connections, Family Services, Group Work and Therapeutic Programs and Placement Prevention.

 

Out of Home Care: Foster Care and Adolescent Family Violence.

 

Specialist Intervention Services: Alcohol and other Drugs, Torture and Trauma Counselling, Youth Justice Community Support and Youth Justice Conferencing.

 

Youth Services: The Geelong Project, Family Support, Homelessness Services and Youth Support Services and headspace Geelong.

Other support

Barwon Child, Youth & Family delivers care and support to vulnerable children, young people and families.

Volunteers make an important contribution to the programs offered by Barwon Child, Youth & Family. Training is provided to support you in your role as a volunteer.

We will match your skills and interests with the needs of families to create new exciting opportunities.

Volunteers can work directly with families and individuals assessing Barwon Child, Youth & Family’s services which include:

Out of Home Care

This program provides short or long term foster care or residential care for children and young people who cannot live safely at home with their families.

Volunteers can assist with homework, supporting social skill development and create positive friendships.

Family & Community Services

These programs assist and support families and individuals to develop strategies to manage problems impacting on their day to day life.

Volunteers can assist with practical living skills, role modelling positive interactions, support to refugee families and providing a link within the Geelong community.

Early Years

This program focuses on parent engagement and attachment. The program creates a positive and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children aged between 0-6 years.

Volunteers can assist with supported playgroups and mentoring parents through home visits.

Work with us

Barwon Child, Youth & Family (BCYF) is an independent, not-for profit organisation formed in July 2015 following the successful merger of the three founding agencies in Glastonbury, Barwon Youth and Time for Youth. As one of the Barwon Region’s leading community service organisations, BCYF’s purpose is to provide, deliver and develop services that advance the rights and well-being of children, young people and their families.

BCYF has a breadth of services that operate via a significant client services platform ranging from prevention and early intervention, to complex care, which are delivered via a significant client services platform. BCYF is also the parent company of its subsidiary ‘BAYSA’, a registered housing provider that provides a range of accommodation and community support programs.
