Our Mission / Objective

At CanTeen, we believe that no young person should have to face cancer alone.

CanTeen supports young people when cancer turns their world upside down and helps them cope with the physical, emotional and practical impact of living with cancer.

We’re here for 12-24 year olds at every stage of their cancer journey, whether they’re dealing with:

•             having cancer themselves

•             a parent, brother or sister being diagnosed with cancer

•             the death of a parent, brother or sister

We understand that cancer affects everything, but that it also affects everyone differently. That’s why CanTeen’s expert staff offer individually tailored support to help every young person deal with the impact that cancer is having on their life.

We do this through hospital and community based specialist services that offer medical care, information and psychosocial support face to face, by telephone and online.

Our peer support programs are renowned for their powerful impact on the young people who attend and share their cancer stories, support each other and have fun.

The CanTeen Research and Evaluation team provides direction on what works and monitors our programs and services so that we continually strive to do better at meeting the needs of those young people affected by the dramatic impact of a cancer diagnosis.

We get how tough it is to face cancer, because we were set up by young cancer patients in 1985 and still have young people affected by cancer guiding CanTeen at every level.
