Our Mission / Objective

Churches of Christ in Queensland has been an active part of the Queensland community for more than 130 years. We have a significant presence in Queensland and Victoria with over 200 services in more than 100 communities, touching tens of thousands of lives each year. We operate a range of missional and community care services to assist families, the elderly and people in need through church communities and our care services groups operated through Churches of Christ Care.

We exist to bring the light of Christ into communities: this is our mission.

Through our local churches and care and support services we touch tens of thousands of lives each year. We strive to create an inclusive, caring, compassionate environment that meets our clients’ needs without discrimination or prejudice. Everyone is welcome to call on our help, regardless of religion, beliefs or background. Our services are funded by a mix of government subsidies, grants, donations, fees and charges.

Other missional services include children’s, youth, women’s and second half ministry; chaplaincy support in community and residential aged care facilities; mission action partnerships; and global mission projects.

While our churches vary greatly, they are generally quite informal and have no fixed order of service. It cannot be too strongly emphasised that a Church of Christ is never a building, although the term is often used in that connection. The services of a Church of Christ may be held anywhere, where two or more are gathered in Jesus’ name.

With over 45,000 Queenslanders involved regularly in one of our churches, missional or care services, we are proud to be an integral part of the Queensland community.

Our Services

Churches of Christ Care is built on a foundation of Christian values, offering help to all those in need regardless of their religious background. Our services provide Christ-inspired care and compassion to vulnerable persons at different stages of their life journey, and range from early childhood care; children, youth and families services; community housing; retirement living; home and community care; and residential aged care.

These services are funded by a mix of government subsidies, grants, fundraising activities, and fees and charges for selected services. Community housing projects have been made possible through funding from the federal government’s Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan. Our care services include:

Children, Youth and Families,  Housing Services and Seniors and Supported Living

Diversity and inclusion

Imagine working in an environment where diversity is a way of life not a catch phrase. At Churches of Christ in Queensland you’ll be surrounded with people of different ages, gender, nationalities and religious beliefs. Not forgetting that sometimes there will be tattoos, piercings and different hairstyles.

When you volunteer with us it’s okay to:

  • Look different, because we value you for who you are
  • Have different beliefs, so long as you believe in helping others and can share our values
  • Be young or not so young. It’s passion that counts, not age, and
  • Be male or female – your gender doesn’t determine your potential.
