Our Mission / Objective

Deafness Foundation aims to improve well-being and promote equality for people who are deaf and hard of hearing by focussing on:
* Access
* Awareness
* Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention.
It's six priority objectives are to:
1 Minimisation of preventable hearing loss - particularly childhood deafness and Noise Induced Hearing Loss;
2 Enhance awareness of issues for the deaf and hard of hearing;
3 Continue to build and enhance partnerships and collaborative relationships;
4 Directly support people with hearing loss;
5 Operate for all Australians
6 Diversify fundraising streams to ensure solid funding of organisation.

Our Services

1 Grants Program which supports organisations across Australia with funding for innovative projects for the deaf and hard of hearing.
2 Fund research programs including a PhD scholar; Peter Howson Clinical Research Fellowship.
3 Conduct Hearing Awareness Week activities in Victoria and overall responsibility for Hearing Awareness Week.
4 Fund 6 x National Education Encouragement Awards annually.
5 Develop awareness programs and professional development in the childhood deafness space, particularly focussing on Cytomegalovirus.

Our Beneficiaries

Schools, aged community, community members who are Deaf or hard of hearing; audiologists; family members and friends of people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
