Our Mission / Objective

Disability Services Australia (DSA) is a professional and flexible not-for-profit organisation employing more than 1,100 people. We offer a range of essential community support, employment and training services which provide opportunities for people with a disability to reach their full potential at home, at work and in their community life.

DSA has a strong presence in a number of key regions in New South Wales including the Hunter, the Illawarra, Metropolitan Sydney, the Southern Highlands and Southern Ranges. We are an integral part of more than 50 communities across New South Wales. We have continued to develop the range and quality of our service offerings whilst growing the number of people we support year on year.

Our purpose is to enhance the lives of people with a disability and our vision is to maximise opportunities for people with a disability to experience choice, inclusion and achievement.

Our Services

Our Business Services division continues to offer meaningful supported employment, as it has for more than fifty years, whilst our Transition to Work program provides work readiness support for those who aim to find employment in the open market. Our Community Support Services division, which has become by far our largest division, provides a range of in-home and lifestyle mentoring supports for people. It also offers day options for those for whom paid employment may not be an option. In addition, our registered training organisation (METS) provides courses and recognised qualifications for those who wish to work in the disability and child care sectors.

As we transition into the new world of the National Disability Insurance Scheme we remain firmly committed to the original purpose and vision of our founding families. We strive to empower people with a disability to make their own decisions and exercise their highest level of self determination with the support of their family and community networks.

General Donations

Relying on Government funding alone for all our work is not an option.

With help from our generous supporters, DSA has served the community for nearly 60 years. Only through continued community support can we sustain our services promoting people’s inclusion, achievements and choices at home, at work and in the community
