Our Mission / Objective
Our MISSION is to raise and direct much needed financial support to important areas of feline research affecting the breeding and well being of cats in Australia. We envisage that the scientific and clinical research will encompass studies into the causes, prevention and cures of diseases in cats and will be performed at eligible Australian Universities and Research Institutes that have tax deductible gift status. The research will be conducted under strict ethical guidelines ensuring the welfare of cats. We anticipate that the research findings will complement feline research being conducted overseas by other world class institutions.
The Feline Health Research Fund provides research grants to from scientists, veterinarians and post graduate students from eligible Australian Universities and Research Institutes.
The work of the Feline Health Research Fund will benefit all domestic cats as the research we fund supports increased knowledge and better diganosis, management, prevention and/or cure of diseases in cats.
Projects in Progress
Over the past decade, the Feline Health Research Fund has funded research into feline issues including diabetes in cats (including a focus on Burmese); development of a new laboratory test for the common feline disease "Haemotropic mycoplasma"; feline leprosy; Hyperthyroidism and environmental risks, to mention a few.

Previous donors include pedigree cat organsations which run raffles, place a small levy on cat show entries, or raise money in other ways, as well as private individuals making one off donations.
