Our Mission / Objective
Guide Dogs Australia is a brand that represents Australia’s six state-based Guide Dog organisations. Guide Dogs Australia, in collaboration with its state-based organisations, deliver essential services to children, teenagers, and the elderly who are blind or have low vision in every State and Territory across Australia.
Our mission is to assist people who are blind or have low vision gain the freedom and independence to move safely and confidently around their communities, and to fulfil their potential.
We want to see a world where everybody who needs a Guide Dog, has a Guide Dog. Our services are provided regardless of funding. If a person has government funding we will access this, but if they are ineligible we will provide our services at no cost to them, supported by philanthropy.
As we receive minimal government funding, we rely on the generous support of the community to fund the Guide Dog program and other services we provide.
Guide Dogs Australia is honoured to have been awarded Australia’s ‘Most Trusted Charity’ for six years in a row (2013-2018).
Our Services
At Guide Dogs Australia, we believe that vision loss will not and should not limit a person’s independence. We provide assistance to anyone with vision loss, no matter what age or level of vision, and we work to ensure that people with low vision or blindness are active and involved members of the community.
Guide Dogs Australia member organisations provide a wide range of services that help people with vision loss to enhance their mobility and independence, and build their confidence for further education, employment and social participation. All our services are provided at no cost to our clients.

How to help us
Wills and Bequests
By leaving a bequest to Guide Dogs you can help us to continue to provide our services free of charge to those Australians who are blind or vision impaired.
Every year the money we receive from generous donors not only helps us to raise our Guide Dog puppies, it also helps to ensure we are providing the best range of services to our clients. We rely on these types of donations to ensure people who have vision impairment can travel independently and safely in the community.
