Our Mission / Objective

Based in the Macarthur and established as a special school in 1957, Mater Dei is an organization that provides early intervention therapy services, education and residential programs for babies, children and young people with an intellectual disability or developmental delay.

The underpinning philosophy for all that we do at Mater Dei is “Inclusion for all”.

Much of our work is focused on providing opportunities and experiences that will help our students develop the skills and confidence to be fully included as members of their community.

Our Services

Established as a special school in 1957, Mater Dei is now an organisation that provides early intervention services and a residential program as well as education for babies, children and young people with an intellectual disability or developmental delay.

Our Early Intervention Program and Living Skills Program are both now under the directorship of Pamela Templeton who was the Assistant Principal of Mater Dei for many years.

Also under the banner of Our Services is the very popular Mater Dei Special Education Conference.  This Conference has been held biannually since 2002.  Please check back to the Conference page in the near future for updates on future Special Education Conference.  There will be no Special Education Conference held in 2014 as the ASSE Conference will be held in Sydney on 17-19 September.  Click here to go to the ASSE Conference page.

You can still check out the Keynote Presentation recordings from our 2010 Conference on our Conference page.

How to help us

Other support

The Mater Dei Development Program assists Mater Dei’s progression and growth by building and ensuring continued support. This is done through building awareness of the organisation’s role through communication and promotion.

Mater Dei receives approximately 80% of our funding from government sources. The remaining 20% is raised from initiatives undertaken through our Development Program and from our school fee policy.

If you would like to know more about any of the following, please contact Simone or Alison in our Development office.
