Our Mission / Objective

Our Mission

We help people and communities to develop their pathways away from disadvantage.

Our Values

1) We see the whole person

We see the whole person, not just the barrier or issue they face. In other words we believe that most people have the ability to overcome whatever it is they are dealing with. Given the right support, the right opportunities and chances, most people have the ability to make positive change in their lives — and achieve a better future for themselves and their families.

2) We give people a hand up

We offer resources and choices that open up opportunities and build independence. It’s about providing the right support at the right time, so those living with deep disadvantage and exclusion can make positive change in their lives.

3) We are inclusive

We respect the beliefs of all those we work with; we include everyone regardless of their background, socio-economic status or country of origin; and we are supportive of cultural heritage. While we respect these beliefs and backgrounds and work hard to accommodate everyone at every turn, our focus is very much on a person’s welfare, their future and what we can offer to contribute to this.

Our Goals

At Melbourne City Mission, we have bold ambitions to make an even bigger difference. By 2022, we aim to double our size and double our impact. We’ll be changing many more lives in many more places to meet increasing demand for social services. We’ll have a louder voice in our sector and community. And we’ll foster more innovation to support people to achieve even better outcomes.

Our Services

Melbourne City Mission operates programs and services in the following areas:

  1. Education and Early Years Services
  2. Disability Services
  3. Social Enterprise
  4. Homelessness Services
  5. Justice Programs
  6. Palliative Care

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

Bequests

A bequest is a unique gift. It is an investment in the future of the people who are important to you. By leaving a bequest to Melbourne City Mission, you are making a lasting difference for those in your community.

Melbourne City Mission’s Circle of Friends bequest society

Melbourne City Mission’s Circle of Friends is a bequest society. We set up this society to recognise the major contribution to the community of those who leave a bequest in their Will supporting our work. If you have included Melbourne City Mission in your will we encourage you to let us know so that we are able to personally thank you. Circle of Friends members receive invitations to events highlighting the services of Melbourne City Mission.

To find out further information about leaving a bequest to Melbourne City Mission or about our Circle of Friends bequest society, please contact Suzanne McGraw, on 03 8625 4421 or email bequests@mcm.org.au.

Other support

Community fundraising

By becoming a community fundraiser and hosting a community event for Melbourne City Mission, you are doing something positive to change the lives of the thousands of Victorians who receive a hand up (not a hand out) from Melbourne City Mission.
The community fundraising activity you host will be a fun and rewarding experience and the type of event you organise is only limited by your imagination and resources. Organise a Melbourne City Mission sleepout or hold a PJ Day to help raise funds for Melbourne City Mission.

For further information regarding Community fundraising please email fundraising@mcm.org.au
