Our Mission / Objective

Mercy Works was established 20 years ago as the community  development agency of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and Papua New Guinea to ensure their charitable works continued into the 21st century.  Mercy Works’ life-changing projects in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste empower thousands of disadvantaged and impoverished people and their communities with opportunities for a better future.   

Our Services

Mercy Works’ development activities focus on education and health projects, which fill gaps in support provided by government or other NGOs.  We offer a “hand up” to those in need, regardless of their cultural background or religious beliefs. 

Our Beneficiaries

Mercy Work’s projects assist a variety of people in three countries.  In Australia, refugees/asylum seekers and First Nations people/communities. In Papua New Guinea, women & children through access to various forms of education and training, and women’s health  in remote villages.  In Timor Leste, pre & post natal care for women & infants, youth education and access to disability services for children & adults.
