Our Mission / Objective

Established in 2000, Mercy Works is a community development and relief organisation, in the tradition of Catherine McAuley.  We work in partnership with local community organisations to support the most vulnerable, both within Australia and elsewhere in the South-East Asia Pacific region, with a particular focus on women and children. Our programs strive to build capacity, self-reliance and to foster environmental sustainability.

Our Services

Mercy Works partners with challenged communities, developing activities that focus on their right to basic education, health and social welfare resources.  We offer a “hand up” to those in need, filling the gaps in support provided by government or other NGOs.

Our Beneficiaries

In Australia, Mercy Works projects focus on refugee and First Nations communities. In Papua New Guinea, we collaborate with remote communities across the Kiunga and Simbu highland provinces through various activities. These activities include life skills training covering agricultural practices, non-violence and technical training, training in education and healthdeveloping community cooperatives and rehabilitation support for prisoners and their families. In the Philippines, we support young women and girls who have survived human trafficking to advocate for change.
