Our Mission / Objective

The MS Society aims to be the leading provider in South Australia and Northern Territory of reliable information, allied health and social supports to minimise the impact of multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

Our Services

We empower people to live well, while supporting research. We provide specialist nursing services, social welfare supports, community engagement activities, physiotherapy and occupational therapy to people and their families during the early stages of diagnosis and throughout their MS journey.

Our Beneficiaries

Multiple sclerosis is the most common chronic neurological condition affecting young adults in Australia. MS is an unpredictable condition of the central nervous system, affecting nerves within the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

Two new people are diagnosed every week in South Australia. The average age of diagnosis is 30, and it affects more women than men. The symptoms associated with MS can have a major impact on daily living, employment and families.

Projects in Progress

Empowering people to live well

The MS Society is always working on expanding our service reach to more people living with MS in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Essential programs for health and wellness education, symptom management and physiotherapy programs need to be accessible in regional areas. In 2018 we expanded our hydrotherapy program to regional SA, and held a number of outreach programs and workshops in regional SA and Darwin.

We hope to continue to expand our services to support all people living with multiple sclerosis in SA and NT.

Supporting research

Every year the MS Society contributes a portion of our funds raised through fundraising initiatives to MS Research into the cause, cure and treatment of MS.

There is currently no known cause or cure for multiple sclerosis, and while research has taken many strides in the past few decades to develop treatments for symptoms and disease progression, there is still more that needs to be done.

General Donations

Make a donation

Help us support people living with multiple sclerosis. Your donation helps us provide vital services for people with MS and helps us contribute to research for the cause, cure and treatment of MS.

We’ve made it easy to donate.

  • Choose a single or regular monthly donation
  • Pay online or over the phone by credit card
  • Pay by EFT (direct bank transfer)
  • Join our mailing list to receive information on our current appeals, our bi-annual newsletter, and donate by mail

Become a regular giver

Becoming a regular giver is one of the best ways you can help people living with MS to access the services they need, and help us to support research.

As a regular giver, you will have your donation automatically deducted from your credit card on the 25th of each month. You can also choose to give quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.

You will receive an annual tax receipt at the end of the financial year to make claiming your tax deductions simple and easy.

Spreading your donations across the year in smaller monthly contributions helps us:

  • better plan our services with a reliable source of income
  • contribute to MS research
  • plan ahead with confidence
  • reduce administration costs.
