Our Mission / Objective

Opportunity International Australia enables you to invest in a mother living in poverty so that she can use a small loan to buy an item like a sewing machine and start a small business. For a family in a developing country who can’t afford the basics, a loan as small as $70 can be life changing. With this hand up, a mother can put food on the table, send her children to school and transform her family’s future for generations.

Mothers want what is best for their children, and as businesses become successful (98% of Opportunity’s loans are repaid), your help means they can make their dreams for their children come true. Opportunity is motivated by Jesus Christ’s call to love and serve the poor, serving all people regardless of their race, faith, ethnicity and gender. Projects in Progress

Invest in a mother

You can invest in a mother and give her family a hand up out of poverty. Just $70 is enough for a mother to use a small loan to start a business and earn a regular income, helping her provide food, clean water, proper shelter and education for her children.

Build healthy communities

Marginalised and vulnerable, families living in poor communities face immense challenges – life-threatening illness and child mortality to name just two. By strengthening communities through health education and improved water and sanitation, you can start a ripple of transformation.

Create leaders

Empowered with new skills and confidence, people living in poor communities are able to become local leaders, bringing about positive change. By investing in leadership, you can help increase a community’s self-sufficiency for years to come.

Deliver innovation

In developing countries, families are often unable to access to the tools they need to leave poverty behind because of barriers like geographic isolation. By supporting innovations in areas such as technology, you can help close these gaps.

Enhance impact

When your goal is to give families a hand up out of poverty, you want to be sure that what you’re doing is making a real difference. By supporting initiatives that assess the impact of programs, you can be sure that you’re helping refine and enhance the impact of your support.
