Our Mission / Objective

Oxfam Australia’s vision is of a fair world in which people control their own lives, their basic rights are achieved and the environment is sustained. We aim to overcome the root causes of poverty and injustice by supporting self-help development projects for the poorest communities in 27 countries, by responding to emergency situations around the world with humanitarian assistance such as water and sanitation, and by advocating and campaigning for a more just world. We are an independent, secular, community based, not-for-profit, Australian aid and development organisation.

Projects in Progress

Oxfam Australia supports impoverished communities in 27 countries around the world. Working together, people are growing more food, educating their children and enjoying better health and opportunities. We have learnt that the best way to assist communities is to help them to help themselves.

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

Leave A Gift In Your Will

For the many millions of people living in poverty, every day is a challenge: to be healthy, to go to school, to put food on the table — even to stay alive.

Poverty is not inevitable — it’s unfair. But you can help end it. By including a gift to Oxfam in your Will, you can help start a life-changing journey for an individual, for a family, for an entire community.

The communities we work with want the chance to make change happen for themselves — to build a brighter future for their children, to live in a fairer world.

By leaving a bequest in your Will, you can make this possible. Change is still possible.

Volunteer with us

Volunteers form the backbone of our organisation. Thanks to the efforts, passions, and dedication of thousands of more than 4,000 volunteers, more than 91,000 working hours were contributed last year.

You can volunteer in a range of areas including customer service, research, editing, events, photography, translations, and finance… just to name a few! Our event volunteers make up the majority of volunteer numbers, with thousands volunteering for Oxfam Trailwalker Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
