Our Mission / Objective

Playgroup NSW is the peak body representing playgroups across NSW.  We are dedicated to supporting families and strengthening local communities through playgroups.  Playgroup NSW exists because of the thousands of committed and enthusiastic members and volunteers who run local community playgroups, attend local playgroups and serve on playgroup committees and on Playgroup NSW’s Board of Management.

Playgroup is essentially one of the first and most important social networks for children and families.

We also support families who are experiencing isolation or need support through our peer support programs and supported playgroups. These programs help us reach out to families who may otherwise miss out on the fantastic experience of playgroup.

Projects in Progress

Playgroup NSW supports and resources over 700 general Community Playgroups throughout the state that cater to a range of children from babies to school age.  In addition to these general playgroups, there are many groups that satisfy more specific needs of parents and children ranging from baby playgroups, to bilingual groups, intergenerational, dads groups and more.

Playgroup NSW also offers facilitated playgroups and peer support groups for families with particular needs, examples include:

  • Supported Playgroups are facilitated groups that bring together families who may otherwise not access playgroups or who require other supports
  • PlayConnect playgroups that are facilitated peer support groups specifically for children aged 0-6 years with autism or similar behaviours.
  • MyTime peer support groups for anyone caring for a child up to age 16 with a disability or chronic medical condition.

How to help us

General Donations

Playgroup NSW is a not for profit member organisation that relies on funding from a range of sources to create our community. Since making our membership free, we have introduced the option for donations to help increase child, family & community well-being across NSW.

We know parents & their young children, including babies, benefit from attending playgroup, & the funds we receive from donations go towards a range of incentives, such as providing much needed toys & craft supplies to playgroups, or helping playgroups in disadvantaged communities celebrate special events such as Christmas.

We are for play & we are for community. If you would like to be a part of building our community, please donate.
