Our Mission / Objective

Pollinate Energy's mission is to bring life changing products to people who need them most.

Our Services

The number of people living in India's urban slums continues to rise as people migrate to seek economic opportunity and better lives for their families. In this quest to improve their quality of life, they face three key issues - product access, finance, and knowledge.

We meet with families living in slum communities and provide education on available products and micro-finance to help pay for them.

We do this through a network of door-to-door sales people - our Pollinators. Pollinators are local men and women also from low-income backgrounds seeking opportunity for stable employment.  Every Pollinator has a 'business in a bag', including a smart phone, customer data, access to products on consignment, and regular training so that their micro-business can flourish.

Our Beneficiaries

We support families living in India's slum communities; and vulnerable men and women seeking employment.

We have also developed Fellowship Programs for Australian University Students and Professionals with the objective of inspiring the next generation of social leaders in Australia.  The program provides a hands-on experience with our staff and Pollinators in India on sustainability, poverty alleviation, and social enterprise.

Projects in Progress

We currently operate in three cities, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and we have just launched in a new city Lucknow. We are scouting in new regions to expand our operations. We are intensively needs oriented and conduct rigorous research with community members to understand the barriers they face and the solutions they want. This research then influences where we base our operation and the products we offer.

At present we service 1,961 communities, providing locals with access to life changing products. We have sold 15,831 products, 95% of which were solar lights. We provide access to solar lanterns and home systems, solar fans, water filters and mobile phone. In addition we continually trial new products to meet community needs.

Within the communities we encourage local entrepreneurs. Our model employs local 'Pollinators' who, once trained conduct the door to door sales.

Another key aspect of Pollinate Energy's operations are the  Fellowship Programs, which enables students and professionals from around the globe to gain hands on experience in a social enterprise. Pollinate Fellows are equiped with valuable skills they can use throughout their careers and in supporting their own communities.

Our People

Leadership Team

Pollinate Energy was co-founded by a group of young Australians motivated to provide a simple solution to provide a lasting impact. The organisation has now grown to employ local Indian staff and an Australian team based in Melbourne.

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

By including a bequest in your will to Pollinate Energy you can help us implement lasting solutions to people who need them most.

General Donations

Our work to continue to reach the millions of people in India needing our life-changing products requires the support of donors. General donations can be made on our website or you can sign up to become one of our regular donors.

Every dollar you give continues to have an impact year in and year out. Why? Because we invest in growing our Pollinators’ businesses through training, support and sourcing new product opportunities. They earn an income from the products they sell (solar lights, water filters and more!). This means they stay in their job for the long term, and thereby reach more and more families in need.

Other support

There are numerous ways you can become involved in Pollinate Energy. These include our Fellowship Programs, volunteering, fundraising, visiting our online shop and more. Please check out our website to find out how you can become involved.

Volunteer with us

We’re always looking for people to help out on different activities. Volunteer opportunities can be face-to-face internships, one-off events, or ongoing support with internet connections. If you’ve got something specific to offer tell us what it is and we’ll be in touch if your skills fit our needs! Leave your details here!

We have five intakes across the year for our Fellowship Programs run in India. The programs are tailored to students or professionals and are open internationally. The programs provide hands on experience within a social enterprise, and are design to foster participants leadership skills, create international networks and encourage entrepreneurship.
