Our Mission / Objective

Scripture Union Queensland is a Christian not-for-profit organisation with a heart for youth and children.

We are the largest provider of school chaplains in Australia, and each chaplain is uniquely placed to support our children and young people as they navigate life’s increasingly complex issues.

We run camps, community outreach events and At-Risk Youth programs, and offer nationally recognised training programs in youth work at both Certificate IV and Diploma levels.

Our Services

  • School chaplaincy
  • Camping, including Schoolies alternative camps
  • Adventure based camping programs for youth at risk
  • School based programs for youth at risk
  • Community outreach, providing fun activities for holidaying families, including Bible-based entertainment and meaningful times
  • Bible reading resources

Our Beneficiaries

SU QLD is an interdenominational, Christian organisation which partners with local communities, governments (local, state & federal), schools, and churches to support children and youth in Queensland state schools.

Projects in Progress

  • Development of chaplaincy services to every state school in Queensland.
  • Expansion of programs to help young people at risk of suicide, facing exclusion from school, from broken homes or those locked into cycles of addiction. This program aims to break destructive patterns and build foundations for life through activity-filled camps and through school programs designed to help build trust, resilience, and problem solving skills.
  • Growth of the camping program to meet the demand from school communities.

How to help us

Wills and Bequests

A bequest is a gift passed from one generation to the next.

A bequest to SU QLD is an investment in its ongoing ministry to children and young people.

It is a living legacy that enables you, in partnership with SU QLD, to do so much more. It reflects what has been important to you during your lifetime.

To impact the lives of thousands of young people, their families, and school communities.

General Donations

You can donate online by going to our web site: www.suqld.org.au

A huge boost of funding from the federal government in 2007 saw the number of SU QLD chaplains jump from 200 to 630 within a very short time frame. However, the funding has gone directly to the schools to employ chaplains. Which means that employing authorities like SU QLD have to raise their own funds to provide the critical infrastructure that the system relies on.

Also, the government funding is only seed funding. We have to rely on our own fundraising effort to ensure that we remain viable. Please support us today and ensure chaplains and SU QLD remain in schools so we can bring hope to a young generation!

Work with us

Volunteer with us

SU QLD has over 5,000 volunteers working in ministry every year. Some people help run our camping programs in their local area, some people help their local chappy make breakfast for kids, and some call our donors to pray for them.

Whatever their gifting, volunteers are a crucial part of the mission of SU QLD!

Camping & Community Outreach

SU QLD Camps are run by dedicated and passionate volunteers who have a heart for young people.  Our volunteers are involved in various capacities, including as:

  • Camp leaders
  • Camp directors
  • Camp cooks
  • Camp administrators
  • Activities directors
  • Bus drivers
  • Boat drivers

If any of these roles interest you, or if you have other skills that you would like to share with us, please contact us.
