Our Mission / Objective
A world in which male survivors of childhood sexual abuse can easily access support and find understanding and acceptance.
Our Services
SAMSN is Australia’s leading organisation for male survivors of child sexual abuse and their supporters.
Our Planned Support Team uses a collaborative approach in our aim to achieve a wrap-around support for all survivors we work with. This involves partnering or walking alongside survivors and their families to provide practical support in dealing with agencies such as Centrelink, Housing, Victims Services, National Redress Scheme, Police, Counselling Services and the legal system.
Our Eight-week Support Groups are for for men who were sexually assaulted as young boys or adolescents. The groups are free, are conducted within a safe peer-support environment and are facilitated by two experienced professionals. The facilitators create a safe environment for recovery with clear rules and guidelines for the peer-group to ensure appropriate conduct and confidentiality.
Following the Eight-week Support Groups, men may continue to access support at monthly drop-in meetings. These are also free and professionally facilitated and focus on a topic that encourages recovery, sharing of experience and the building of resilience.
SAMSN plays a significant role in bringing knowledge and collaboration to professionals and workplaces. The combined lived expertise and professional knowledge and experience provides a unique service. Our workshops and trainings are ideal for psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, counsellors, mental health nurses, social workers, police, general practitioners, or anyone working with adult male survivors of child sexual abuse.
All our services for survivors and supporters are free.
