Our Mission / Objective

The Rural Experience supports the next generation of rural growth by helping metropolitan high school students understand the diverse career opportunities and lifestyle benefits in rural areas. The main initiative is an informative and enjoyable one-week rural immersion for Years 10-12 students at a time when they are considering their career pathways. Programs will be conducted in the host communities of Charleville and Longreach.

Donations help keep the program registration fee affordable for a wide range of students and will also support future expansion of this far-reaching initiative.

Our Beneficiaries

Rural and regional communities

High school students and school-leavers, aged 16– 20 years

Projects in Progress

‘The Rural Experience’ is a one-week immersion program that aims to support the next generation of rural regeneration and growth by giving metropolitan young people a comprehensive personal experience of rural life that fosters understanding, motivation and confidence about living and working in a rural community.

The program enables years 10 – 12 students from metropolitan areas to experience life in a rural community and the diverse career opportunities available in rural communities, at a time when they are considering their career pathways. Through career information sessions and work observation options, students see and hear first-hand about the host community and the range of careers available in rural areas, including in healthcare, education, renewable energy, tourism and agribusiness.
