Our Mission / Objective

Our vision is to enrich the lives of people with a disability through participation in sport.

Our mission is to provide a range of quality sporting programs and opportunities for all ages and stages, to engage with our members and be responsive to their needs, to build strong and strategic relationships with the community and government, to ensure sustainability and promote awareness.

Our aim is to remove the barriers to participation by creating opportunities for engagement in sport, providing specialised equipment required such as sport specific wheelchairs and providing financial support to reduce costs associated with their continued involvement.

Our Services

We are a charitable organisation responsible for the development, promotion and delivery of wheelchair sport in NSW. We conduct a diverse range of events and programs catering fro novice members through to elite athletes.Programs are provided year round throughout metropolitan and regional NSW. Whether an individual is born with a disability or acquires a disability, our programs and services aim to enhance lives using sport for rehabilitation and integration. This includes equipment (e.g. sports wheelchair loans), facilities, financial assistance and professional support staff to more than 400 members.

Programs are specifically designed to cater for people with physical disabilities ranging from spinal cord injury, spina bifida, amputation, paraplegia, quadriplegia and similar disabling conditions.

WS NSW also runs a successful Roadshow program presenting to schools, university/TAFE students and community groups. Presentations include talks on road safety and the consequences of risk-taking behaviour, disability sport and living with a disability. It also includes an interactive game of wheelchair basketball.

Our Beneficiaries

The immediate beneficiary group are people living in NSW with a physical disability.

Indirect beneficiaries include the families of our members and the broader community.
