This 2-day course provides an overview of the complex issues surrounding domestic and family violence.

This course will provide the skills and tools to support, manage and assist clients who have experienced situations of violence and abuse. Develop skills in recognising violence and abuse and assessing the appropriate interventions involving the police, justice and child protection systems.

Learning objectives
•Explore the theories of what causes domestic and family violence
•Begin the process of deconstructing ideas, views and beliefs about disrespectful and abusive practice within the context of current research
•Investigate how children and adults, men and women create meaning and tolerate abusive and disrespectful practices
•Identify how to intervene with individuals, couples and families who experience disrespectful and abusive practice using systemic, CBT and psycho-educational models
•Learn how to undertake a safety assessment on victims, perpetrators, children and young people
•Identify how to use questions to invite safety and self-responsibility
