Future Planning

Details

This 2-day course focuses on the disengagement of young people from their own future planning and assists them to have ownership over the process.

The course introduces an efficient and unique template allowing caseworkers to have consistency in practice and identifies the tools and strategies that are developmentally sensitive and respectful of a young person’s history.

Learning objectives
•Learn the theoretical framework to guide all Future Planning discussions, activities and documentation
•Explore the thought process to consider location, language and resources to enhance the young person’s ability to participate and be at the centre of all decision making
•Provide the opportunity to reflect on examples of best practice and utilise the principles to develop an approach to Future Planning
•Define and measure what skills and knowledge young people need to acquire from each section of the plan
•Gain an understanding, familiarity and appreciation of the outline, learning plans and independent living skills activities and how these work interdependently
