This 3-day workshop introduces you to the HomeBuilders® Model of Family Preservation, an intensive in-home family treatment program focusing on in-home crisis intervention, counselling and life skills education for families.
The course explores techniques for working with families in crisis with workshops to demonstrate how to apply these techniques to different situations.
Learning objectives
•Learn how to engage and motivate families in the change process
•Gain an understanding on structuring strategies for keeping family members and themselves safe
•Become skilled in developing and implementing safety plans
•Learn to conduct a client directed, holistic assessment of family strengths and problems
•Learn to use the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS) to organise assessment information, develop goals and evaluate outcomes
•Develop practical strategies for helping clients identify values, strengths and goals
•Understand how to use the assessment information to develop outcome-based goals
•Learn to use research-based cognitive/behavioural interventions to help children and families change
•Gain skills to identify intervention strategies for helping families achieve their goals and teach these skills and strategies to families
•Understand how to evaluate progress toward goals
•Learn to plan for maintenance of changes and successful termination of services
•Learn how to develop goals and service plans
•Practical advice on how to complete required client paperwork and service documentation
