This 2-day workshop introduces motivational interviewing techniques with a focus on families, children and teens.
Motivational interviewing is a client-centred approach to helping clients better understand and resolve their ambivalence about change.
This course will further develop your proficiency in working and communicating with families as well as building adeptness in motivational interviewing techniques.
Learning objectives
•Develop the ability to assess the ‘Stage of Change’ and identify appropriate MI strategies to use
•Learn how to increase client engagement and elicit greater participation in services
•Gain an understanding of the overarching spirit of MI and how to incorporate this into working with people
•Develop skills to resolve client ambivalence and tap into intrinsic motivation, and reduce ‘no-shows’
