We have an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator to join our Doorway team in a rewarding and fulfilling role. The Doorway program assists people living with mental illness to secure and maintain their own home in the private rental market. Through providing support and guidance with tenancy related issues and developing individually tailored recovery plans, you will provide an essential link between participants and other recovery services either internal or external to MI Fellowship.

Under the support and direction of the Regional Manager, Gippsland, the Coordinator will form part of the Doorway leadership team with the direct responsibility for the development, delivery and evaluation of the Doorway program that is offered across St Vincent’s Mental Health, The Alfred, Peninsula Health and Latrobe Regional Hospital. The Coordinator will also be responsible for leading, supervising and supporting the Doorway team.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social science or similar discipline or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising a team within a community-based organisation
  • Ability to create and develop positive linkages with the community
  • Be comfortable working independently as well as an active team member
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills excellent organisational skills.
  • An understanding of private rental market and tenancy including Victorian public housing, Housing First and Circles of Support is desirable
  • An understanding of the biopsychosocial model of mental health and the benefits of social inclusion
  • Ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals
  • A current and valid driver’s licence and the ability to undertake some travel
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check and Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to co-locate with partnered community mental health services

MI Fellowship works with people with mental illness, their families and friends to improve their wellbeing. We work to achieve mental health reform through education, support and advocacy and provide a range of innovative rehabilitation programs. We currently employ over 350 staff and work across multiple sites within Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and the ACT on a range of innovative education, support, advocacy and rehabilitation programs.
