About the organisation

Organisation Name : Women's Health Queensland Wide Inc

About the role

This is a full time position for 18 months (open to negotiation) with an option to extend.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a statewide not for profit organisation, as we continue the journey to deliver greater and purposeful impact, primarily for the benefit of significantly disadvantaged women, but also for Queensland women generally.

Reporting to the Management Committee (through the Chair), you will:
1. be committed to serving significantly disadvantaged women across Queensland;
2. have a strong ethos of social justice and service equity, capturing the balance between providing government services to those that can least afford to pay open-market fees, while offering fee-for-service to women who are prepared, and have the capacity, to pay for a unique service offering;
3. have the ability to quickly understand different social service industries and sectors, and what drives those that operate in these sectors;
4. develop partnerships and commercial women’s health fee-for-service opportunities, particularly through leveraging organisational resources;
5. be performance-oriented (and prepared to be held accountable for your and your staffs’ achievements) with a strong understanding of the need for implementation of projects and programs within timelines, in scope and within budget;
6. demonstrate that your time spent in networking and partner liaison results in tangible benefits for the organisation;
7. demonstrate strong business acumen, including financial scenario analysis and modelling skills, to gauge best value-for-money opportunities;
8. lead teams of different skills mix, including midwives and other health professionals, communication and marketing staff, and administration staff;
9. have a good understanding of fundraising strategies and engagement;
10. have significant experience in leading and building teams and embedding team cultures, resulting in building an organisationally shared view of service purpose and the required culture;
11. have extensive experience at a senior executive level working with Boards, governance groups and other stakeholders;
12. have significant experience in HR management at an executive level (the Management Committee is not seeking an HR expert, but rather someone who has managed staff in a variety of circumstances including involvement in IR negotiations);
13. have sufficient organisational experience in risk management, financial systems, policy and procedures development and implementation, procurement and contract management, and other organisational ‘system’ matters to lead and educate other staff.

In summary, the organisation requires a performance-oriented leader, who has strong sense of social justice, and demonstrated business acumen for implementing innovative projects. The person successful in this position must be prepared to be held accountable for their own performance, and hold staff to account for their performance, including driving the implementation of the Strategic Plan.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Proven commitment to a strong social justice ethos
• A minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in an organisation at a CEO or senior management level
• Proven leadership skills including driving change and fostering desired culture and employee engagement
