This strategic leadership position will play an important role in supporting the operational goals of Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) through consolidating and growing professional services in the areas of school improvement and teacher quality. The Education Services Officer (School Improvement) will assist in facilitating the strategic directions of ISQ with a specific focus on delivering services associated with the Self-Improving Schools initiative, and will work closely with the Manager (Education Services). It will also involve working across the organisation with internal stakeholders of ISQ in order to provide member schools with tailored services to their needs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high level, strategic consultative services to member schools through school based projects such as the Self-Improving Schools program and other projects that include the Australian Performance and Development Framework (Framework)
- Analysing and preparing financial and narrative reports to facilitate the administration of the Self-Improving Schools program
- Providing strategic input to the on-going evaluation of the Self-Improving Schools and Great Teachers in Independent Schools programs for continuous improvement
- Working with independent schools to identify and implement best practices for teacher and school leader professional learning, performance and development
- Representing the independent school sector in relevant committees
- Travelling to member schools on a regular basis
Demonstrated skills, experience and competencies required:
- Senior leadership experience within the education sector- leading school improvement, designing and delivering professional development within the school setting, and coaching and mentoring senior leaders, middle management and teachers
- Thorough knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in supporting quality teaching aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, the Australian Professional Standard for Principals and the Australian Teacher Performance and Development Framework
- Demonstrated project management skills, particularly in the areas of school based projects
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) in a diverse context of stakeholders
- A capacity/willingness to travel consistently
- A member services approach
- Formal qualifications in the areas of performance coaching, mentoring, school improvement and quality assurance are desirable
