About the role

Reporting directly to the Board, the General Manager of Can Assist will provide leadership, help develop and implement the strategic vision across the organisation. The General Manager will provide strategic financial management and develop and maintain effective partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including oversight of staff who manage an extensive branch network. The General Manager will also oversee the governance, OHS and risk management framework for Can Assist, and ensure the optimal use of resources across the organisations network. They will also be responsible for all statutory reporting.

To be successful in this role you will have proven leadership and management experience and demonstrated proven expertise in developing cohesive teams focused on delivering results. A collaborator and an enabler, you are a superior communicator and manager of complex stakeholder relationships, an expert negotiator with a “can-do” attitude. Experience in fundraising is essential. Resilience, energy and passion provide the hallmarks for your personal success. While previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is not essential, it will be considered a significant benefit for this role. Can Assist’s head office is located in Sydney’s CBD.

Since 1955 Can Assist’s network of branches have grown to over 50 throughout NSW. These branches raise vitals funds to provide direct support to their local communities affected by cancer.
