We are now seeking a Media and Advocacy Manager to join our team which is located in the Melbourne CBD, however, you may choose to be located in Adelaide.

The Media and Advocacy Manager will develop and implement strategies to enhance HCA’s external stakeholder relations through effective, targeted and credible media and advocacy to promote our media profile as well as the issues related to affordable housing and ending homelessness.

You will be media savvy with a successful and accomplished record in successfully working across the media environment at all levels. And, you will have attention to detail in planning and delivering advocacy campaign work, as well as general communications and stakeholder planning and implementation experience. To be successful in this role, you will need to have relevant experience or tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Communications or other related disciplines.

As the Media and Advocacy Manager, you will:

– Develop and implement highly effective media and advocacy strategies in consultation with the Stakeholder and Engagement Manager and the GM Strategy and Engagement in line with HCA mission, business strategy and growth.

– Work with the HCA Strategy and Engagement Team to prepare, produce and target distribution of all HCA media releases where possible and applicable.

– Develop and maintain active media networks at national and state levels, with a particular focus on South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.

– Identify, engage and help support relationships with key federal and state government Ministers, their Offices and senior bureaucrats in the housing, homelessness and related portfolios

You will need to develop excellent working relationships and show empathy and commitment to the needs of people who are disabled and/or socially disadvantaged. You will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously, have excellent time management skills and be highly organised.
