The Role
This position will be a member of the Rural & Regional Team managed by a team leader, and will be based in Wagga Wagga while outreaching to regional centres in Southern NSW where required. You will provide a wide range of therapeutic interventions for survivors of refugee trauma and/or torture settling in Southern NSW. You will also liaise with refugee communities and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement community development activities.
The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.

Skills Required
Tertiary qualifications in Health, Welfare, Social Work, Psychology or Counselling. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in counselling, community development, have understanding and sensitivity in regards to the provision of support and counselling services in a cross-cultural context. You will be a highly motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting refugees in particular resettlement issues, and the effects of torture on individuals, young people, families, and communities.
Along with your excellent time management skills, you will be an excellent communicator and have high level report writing skills.

Work Type: 38 hours per week. Contract up to 2 years (continuation subject to ongoing funding)
Location: Wagga Wagga
Salary: Health Education Officer or relevant classification; commencement level is dependent on qualifications, experience and position requirements.
A generous salary packaging scheme is also offered to reduce the taxable income and increase the take home pay.
