About the role

Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) runs the BreaCan service that is a statewide gynaecological and breast cancer support and information service. The service aims to empower women to make informed choices about their care and treatment, to support them to live well.

The role:
This is a new role within the BreaCan team focusing on extending the reach of BreaCan’s services to all women, their friends and families affected by a gynaecological or breast cancer across Victoria. You will be a highly motivated and energetic person with great experience in working collaboratively and developing partnerships and networks with health professionals and women in health settings. You will have a well-developed understanding of the issues women and service providers living in rural and regional areas of Victoria.

Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Health / Health Science / Public Health / Social Science or related course.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Understanding of contemporary cancer policy and frameworks, especially in relation to rural service delivery.
• Experience in working with people in a service delivery role within a health or community setting, preferably in a rural or regional setting.
• Demonstrated experience in the use of performance and reporting frameworks to monitor progress and accountability.
• Demonstrated experience in working within and across work teams and organisations and coordinating and prioritising work activities to achieve program results.
• Highly developed analytical skills relevant to health service planning and development that may include: research, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Writing skills relevant to the contribution of service proposals, briefs, organisational communications, submissions and tenders and contractual reports.
• Experience working with people with significant emotional distress.
• Commitment to a feminist framework and an understanding of the social model of health as it relates to the diverse needs of women.
• Exposure to and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, online environments and tools including relevant Content Management Systems.
• Experience in consumer-focussed service development and delivery, with a proven ability to connect with women from diverse communities.

This position is part-time working 5 days per fortnight for 3 years. For further information, please refer to the position description provided.
