Location: Sydney CBD
Status: Full time; 38 hours per week.
Fixed term contract for 1 year with the possibility of extension but no guarantee
About NDS:
National Disability Services (NDS) is Australia’s peak body for non-government disability service organisations, representing more than 1,100 non-government service providers. Collectively, NDS members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS exists to promote high-quality service provision and life opportunities for people with disability.
We are seeking a passionate individual with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for people with a disability.
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Influencing the design and implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, an national reform that aims to improve the lives of people with disability;
- Building skills in evidence-based policy development and analysis and increasing their understanding of the relationship between government agencies, not-for-profit organisations, and interest groups; and
- Leading large projects and events within a vibrant team environment.
3 Key responsibilities in this role
- In the policy and research area:
- undertake secondary research and policy analysis regarding issues relevant to disability service providers, with particular regard to the impact of the NDIS; and
- absorb and coordinate information on a range of mainstream policy issues (e.g. education, health, housing) that impact upon people with a disability and formulate strategies to effectively respond to those issues.
- To increase sector engagement efforts:
- manage and assist with sector events with a focus on conference program development and speaker engagement, and
- be a key point of contact for NDS members, government and community stakeholders in the provision of accurate information and
- In providing project support and administration:
- collate, interpret and analyse a range of data from team projects and develop cogent project reports
- coordinate meetings and events by undertaking a series of administrative tasks including: venue bookings, managing registration processes, organising AV.
