About the role

Girl Guides NSW & ACT is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to build upon the foundations for growth that have been established since the organisation entered its second century.
The mission of Girl Guides NSW & ACT is to enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members. At its core, Guiding is about building self-confidence, leadership and teamwork. Guiding empowers girls 5-17 years to speak out and take action on issues they care about – locally, nationally and globally. Our committed, trained volunteers make Guiding happen. Guiding empowers girls and young women to be their best whatever their ability or background. The values girls gain through Guiding set them up for life. Guiding has been an integral part of the Australian community for over a hundred years. Girl Guides NSW & ACT is dynamic, relevant and constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of today’s girls and young women.
Guiding is a global movement with more than 10 million members in 145 countries.
The Chief Executive Officer works closely with the Board and State Commissioner to ensure the effective overall operations and performance of Girl Guides NSW & ACT, by developing and overseeing implementation of core business strategies in order to facilitate growing membership, whilst ensuring the functionality and sustainability of Girl Guides NSW & ACT. The organisation employs approximately 24 staff to support the delivery of Guiding across NSW & ACT, management of three State properties, a portfolio of regional properties and investments and works with 1500 volunteer Leaders.

The person for this role will be able to demonstrate:
• Ability to work in a volunteer led organisation
• Ability to work with a board
• Strong financial management skills
• Ability to work within a tight budget
• Lead change within a diverse organisation
• Ability to work as part of a team and manage staff
• Proven ability to collaborate and build lasting partnerships at a local, state, national and international level
• Commitment to Girl Guide values

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to think strategically are essential.
