Developing Australia’s Leaders of Tomorrow

Since 2002 the General Sir John Monash Foundation has become one of the major contributors to developing the next generation of Australian leaders through identifying and awarding numerous John Monash Scholarships to outstanding young Australians to study at a post graduate level overseas. The Board is now seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the Foundation as it continues to grow and develop to become one of the world’s most successful and high profile academic scholarship and leadership programs. The appointee will have the vision, energy, and skills to build on the Foundation’s recent successes and achieve the Board’s objectives of the Foundation of being a world leading and self-supporting postgraduate scholarship and leadership organisation.

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the Board for further raising the Foundation’s profile, for building long-lasting partnerships with sponsors and partners and philanthropists, for engaging with and nurturing past and present scholars and for ensuring that the processes to select scholars are suited to identify those who are inspired by John Monash’s legacy of doing something worthwhile for society.

The Chief Executive Officer will need to demonstrate a passion for identifying and developing talent and an understanding of the higher education sector. He or she will have a real flair for fundraising and the ability to be the Foundation’s compelling public advocate. Particular importance will be attributed to the ability to foster productive relationships in the corporate sector and with government. He or she will likely be an experienced executive familiar with the governance and operational oversight of a small organisation and in working with, and reporting to, Boards and committees.
