About the role

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a world-class aeromedical search and rescue operator, servicing the communities of the Hunter, Central Coast, Mid North Coast, New England and North West regions of NSW. Their Service began as a part-time voluntary summer beach patrol in 1975 and is now one of the most iconic not-for-profit organisations in Australia. It was recently awarded a 10-year state government contract which will commence in early 2017 and involve a merge of the Lismore service.

Based at Broadmeadow (Newcastle), the Service is seeking to recruit a highly-effective Fundraising, Marketing & Events professional who can confidently drive the strategic direction of this arm of the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as part of the Senior Management Team, you will play a key role in the success of the Service by developing innovative fundraising and marketing strategies to engage a broad spectrum of donors including corporate partners, philanthropists, supporters and the community.

Key position accountabilities and responsibilities:
•Development of the annual fundraising and marketing plan to include strategic planning, market research programs and budget management across multiple sites
•Proactively lead, coach and mentor the Fundraising, Marketing and Events Team to continue to enhance their performance for the benefit of themselves, the Service and the sustainability of the organisation
•Promote, facilitate and manage the giving channels including payroll giving, sponsorship, event participation and fundraising activities
•Prepare and present proposals to and manage negotiations with major sponsors, corporate partners and donors
•Interact closely with the Board via the Marketing Committee and prepare relevant management reports as requested
•Build relationships with the media, corporates and other key stakeholders

To be considered for this role you will have:
•Significant skills and experience in fundraising and marketing leadership or transferable revenue generation and marketing skills
•Experience in strategic business planning, budgetary forecasting and review
•Strong leadership experience in team building and development
•Current responsibility to provide leading edge digital, social media and marketing strategies
•Highly developed public speaking and presentation skills
•At a strategic level, worked in a corporate environment in a similar role
