The Carmelites of Australia and East Timor are a small faith based charity with outreach programs in Australia and East Timor which support spirituality in these changing times and transforms communities in practical ways.

This is an opportunity to join a growing fundraising team. The Philanthropy Officer’s primary role will be engage philanthropic partners in the area of Trusts and Foundations and source funding both national and international. This role offers excellent development opportunities for the right person.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement and manage a strategy for Trusts and Foundations to achieve revenue targets
  • Develop a database of relevant national and international philanthropic granting bodies and timelines
  • Research the philanthropic environment to inform, plan and identify funding opportunities
  • Deepen relationship with existing partners and establish new partnerships which will support the growth of philanthropic revenue in the area of Trust and Foundations
  • Make recommendations for grant submissions that meet our strategic objectives
  • Work with varied Carmelite ministry leaders to manage, facilitate and write highly inspiring and compelling submissions tailored to convey The Carmelites vision and needs
  • Prepare and submit acquittal reports outlining outcomes and impacts for successful grants
  • Maintain all administrative aspects of Trust and Foundation coding on CRM database

 

 

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:

  • Have solid grant writing experience
  • A good track record in achieving income growth targets in set timeframes, with limited resources
  • Possess a strong commitment to attention to detail
  • The ability to craft a persuasive narrative
  • A strong understanding of Philanthropy and what motivations grant bodies look for in submissions
  • Experience in building partnerships with Trusts & Foundations
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and prioritise, including the ability to meet accountability and reporting requirements
  • Manage competing tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Understanding of Christian and / or Catholic ethos

 

You will need to be outcomes focused, with a strong work ethics and possess a dedication to achieving desired results, with experience in grant applications.
