About the role
Seniors Rights Victoria is the leading organisation addressing elder abuse in Victoria. As a form of family violence and stemming from attitudes of ageism in our community, elder abuse is a critical social issue, sometimes having lifelong impact on the most vulnerable members of society. This Advocate position will play a key role in our Advocacy Team and work closely with our Legal Team to deliver a multidisciplinary service to older people. Our work reflects a strong rights approach.
We seek a suitably qualified and experienced person to:
• Provide advice, referral, short term case work and advocacy for older people seeking support
• Support the Seniors Rights Victoria telephone helpline service
• Contribute to systemic advocacy and law reform projects
• Facilitate education and training to service providers and members of the general public
