The Organisation:
Ronald McDonald House Hobart provides compassionate hospitality and support for rural and regional families caring for seriously ill or injured children.
The Role:
A unique opportunity has arisen for a compassionate, people-focused and experienced manager to join Ronald McDonald House Hobart in the capacity of House Manager, reporting to the Executive Officer. The purpose of the role will be to manage all aspects of House operations, lead a team of dedicated staff/volunteers in supporting guest families and to build relationships to enhance the House’s reputation and brand in the Tasmanian community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the House meets all Ronald McDonald House Charities operational requirements and standards
- Create a positive and collaborative culture of commitment and professionalism
- Coach, develop and monitor the performance of the staff team in collaboration with the Executive Officer; identify training needs and opportunities for professional development
- Assist the Volunteer Coordinator to maintain a high performing team of volunteers to support families and staff
- Create and maintain a culture of Work Health & Safety
- Promote and maintain a culture of child safety
- Demonstrate leadership in crisis and conflict management situations
- Provide reports on House operations to the Executive Officer
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and maintain sound financial practices
- Develop productive and positive working relationships with relevant government departments, Health Department/hospital personnel, corporate and not-for-profit organisations, as well as with the media
- Raise the profile and promote the role of the House within the Tasmanian community
RELEVANT CRITERIA
- Experience working in health, education or social work management and administration
- Proven track record in leading staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills and public speaking
- Working knowledge of financial and operational practices
- Sound IT knowledge and skills
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills
- Experience with social media and marketing
- Ability to make decisions and resolve problems
- Willingness to engage and participate in the process of remote management
- Be accountable, flexible and adaptable
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications
