About the Company

RACS provides free, specialist legal services for asylum seekers and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families at risk of persecution gain access to equal and fair representation before the law.

RACS is an independent community legal centre (CLC). We have been operating for over 25 years, protecting and advocating for the human rights of people seeking asylum in Australia. We have a team of 17 lawyers, experienced in human rights law, who dedicate themselves to achieving positive outcomes for their clients. Our staff come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and several have refugee backgrounds themselves.

About the Role

As the Sponsorship/Fundraiser Manager you will grow the revenue raising capabilities, allowing this highly esteemed organisation to continue to provide expert legal assistance to people seeking asylum and refugees. This role would suit a self-motivated and energetic professional, who will proactively identify business growth opportunities including expansion of the philanthropic base and development of new initiatives that stimulate donor engagement and revenue.

Status/Hours: Full-time

Duties/Responsibilities include:

• Ability to operate at a strategic level, experience in client/account relationship development and management &/or fundraising and philanthropic giving
• Track record of forecasting, developing and implementing business engagement plans for both new and existing clients/donors whilst delivering against revenue targets
• A commitment to ethical standards of behaviour and ability to exercise good judgment & discretion Manage and prepare all funding applications, proposals and reports
• Identify and build a prospect of new major donors working closely with Board and CEO Design and execute a fundraising development strategy
• Ability to network at a high level and experience in building value-add relationships with a diverse range of people Manage and prepare budgets and board reports
• Manage, motivate, coach and lead a small team

Skills and Experience:

As the successful candidate you will possess the following key attributes:

• Minimum of three to five years of experience in securing major, multi-year grants from trusts and foundations (or/ or both) pledges from individuals, philanthropists and PAFs strategic alliances for program delivery and or joint revenue initiatives
• Extensive knowledge of the Australian philanthropic landscape, as well as emerging trends and opportunities
• A well-established network of philanthropic contacts in Australia (or Sydney)
• Excellent skills in written and verbal communications, in particular proposals and persuasive presentations
• High level communication and negotiation skills, experience in ‘making the ask’ that results in significant income Strong financial and people management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
• Ability to write and present engaging proposals to groups Strong initiative and drive, coupled with the ability to work both autonomously and within a virtual team environment
